Munduk Village

Munduk village is a world away from the beaches that draw most tourists to Bali. About 800 meters above the sea level, the cool thing about Munduk is the weather, its cool! Therefore no air condition needed. If the heat and humidity of Kuta or Sanur are getting you down, Munduk will be a breath of fresh air.

Munduk Village are famous for beautiful scenery and a variety of fascinating walks and treks. Munduk is surrounded by tropical rainforest, rice terraces and farms producing traditional commodities. Visitors are welcome to explore this delightful microcosm of traditional Bali. The Munduk area with its unique nature and very agreeable temperatures (20-25 degrees Celcius) is extremely suitable for all kinds of outdoor activities.

The views along almost the entire length of this road are awe-inspiring, with massive ravines, soaring mountain peaks, steep rice terraces and ridge-top towns all providing moments where you just have to pull over and take a photo. It’s sometimes possible to get onto the back roads around here to towns such as Gobleg, where the views are equally fantastic, but this is largely dependent on the condition of the roads, the weather and whether you’re prepared to drive on increasingly narrow and sometimes slippery roads.

Two kilometres north of Munduk is a tiny parking area on a hairpin bend that signifies the entry point to for the powerful Munduk Waterfall. The walk down the largely concreted path to the waterfall is quite leisurely and only takes about 10 minutes.

The path winds its way through dense jungle where it’s possible to see a wide variety of plant and bird life before arriving at a ticket office where the entry fee must be paid. A further 200m on the thundering 25m high waterfall comes into view, spraying right out of the side of the jungle into a shallow-looking pond that you can swim in.
